It happens to all of us at one point in our lives. You're watching an episode of The Monkees and you just can't quite place which season you're watching. Why this is vital information is anyone's guess, but for the true Monkees fan, it would be irritating to NOT know.
SEASON ONE CHARACTERISTICS:
-Micky has straight hair
-Mike is probably wearing a Canadian tuxedo*
-Davy is sporting a mullet-y Dutchboy haircut
-Peter is wearing boots as opposed to moccassins
-Mike's accent seems thicker (especially in Monkee vs. Machine. Don't ask me why)
-Davy's catchphrase is "you must be joking"
-Peter has a really cute "dummy" character
-Look Out (Here Comes Tomorrow) is overplayed until you want to beat yourself to death
-But at the same time, a lot of romp songs are by Mike, so that's okay
SEASON TWO CHARACTERISTICS:
-Micky's hair is curly
-Mike's hair has successfully almost eaten his entire face
-Micky's unibrow is at the point where it's nearly an issue
-Mike's woolhat has four white buttons on it
-Davy appears stoned 87% of the time
-All four Monkees have seemed to have stopped giving a damn
-Much more politically inclined, and more jabs at themselves
-The phrase "long haired weirdos" is beaten to death over and over
-The Monkees care more about saving the world 'n shit over paying the damn rent
-Davy's catchphrase is "oo!" (who writes this stuff?)
-You realize Peter's "dummy" character is just really bad acting
*If you don't know what a Canadian tuxedo is, go watch Super Troopers. "Hey Denim Dan, nice Canadian tuxedo!"
